I would love you more than you can imagine.
Bandit was picked up as a stray in rural Oklahoma. He appears to have had NO contact with humans before landing in the shelter. We have been working to gain his trust, but he is still very skittish of humans. He gets along really well with other dogs, but tries to keep his distance from humans. He is learning to walk on a leash, and our hope is that with continued practice, he will become more trusting of humans. In the yard, he seems relaxed and happy. Inside the house, he's a little more anxious because of the close proximity of humans. He seems to appreciate having a wire crate with comfy bed that he can retreat to when he thinks the humans are getting a little too close. Ironically though, he really seems to enjoy it when his foster family pets him -- he just soaks it up as though making up for lost time. We feel sure that Bandit will come around, but it will take a very patient, gentle adopter. In our experience with dogs like this, young children can sometimes be very good with dogs like Bandit, because the dog will usually trust the child more than he will trust an adult.
Bandit has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, so he is ready to find a forever home. If you are ready to commit to spending at least 3 months earning Bandit's trust, please visit our website to learn more about our adoption process and complete an application: https://www.bluebonnetrescue.org/info/adoption
