Iris is an excellent LGD for goats and sheep, but is not a fan of chickens or other fowl (unless they're for dinner). She is a sweet girl with people, demanding her share of affection. She gets along well with dogs that she trusts to share the pasture with her, but she does not tolerate dogs coming into "her" pasture uninvited, and she WILL attack to neutralize the perceived threat. She hasn't harmed any dogs, but she has made sure they know that she takes her job seriously.

Iris's original family had hoped to keep her as a pet after they sold their livestock, but she would go over the fence and head down the street to hang out with the neighbors sheep, so Iris MUST have livestock to protect in order to be happy. The only reason she was surrendered to Bluebonnet is because her family wanted her to be happy, and worried about her safety each time she went over their fence.

Iris loves cooling off in the water troughs here, but our pond has been dry since she came to Windsong Ranch, so we don't know whether she will actually SWIM in a pond, or just wade in to cool off. But we definitely recommend that you be prepared to provide a wading pool or 50-gallon water trough for her if you want her to be truly happy.
