Say hello to the stunning Anatolian Shepherd hunk of handsome that is Mr. Beau! He weighs 95 lbs or so, is about 5.5 years old and has lived his whole life outside. In his original home, he protected chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, and mini horses. Here at Windsong Ranch, Beau at first shared a play yard with 4 other dogs (3 females and 1 male, all LGD breeds and mixes, and all in the 70-90 lb range). Now he is rotating from a barn kennel with 32' long dog run into a pasture with Nigerian Dwarf goats and other livestock guardian dogs. We are rotating him in and out of the pasture during times when we can supervise to make sure that he is behaving appropriately, and he is doing well. He seems to enjoy doing perimeter patrol and is respectful of the goats. We will soon be releasing him to live in the pasture full-time, but we always prefer to go slow and steady so we can help each dog succeed.

Beau is very sweet, though he can be a little shy on meeting new people. We would love for Beau to find his forever home, or to have a new foster home where he can get more attention and training on the basics, like walking on a leash. He does OK, but pretty much every dog at Windsong Ranch could use more practice with leash-walking. Beau is motivated by treats and affection, so he's very trainable.
