Marshall came from a ranch where he lived outdoors 24/7 but once he came into rescue, he decided that he really likes living inside the house. And he has had really good manners inside too! We've never seen any evidence that he has marked even once inside the house. He goes into a crate willingly for meals and bedtime. His only misbehavior has been that he will tear up a dog bed or blanket. But since the vet estimates Marshall to be barely more than a year old, tearing up a few things is to be expected. He will surely grow out of that stage. Until then, we just don't put a bed or blanket in his crate, and he doesn't complain about sleeping on the bare floor.

We're really unsure about Marshall's breed/mix. His size is on the large end of the typical range for an Australian Shepherd. The black markings on his face look like there was an Anatolian Shepherd in his family tree. He's listed as a Great Pyrenees mix in his vet records, and that's definitely a possibility. Whatever is in his DNA, Marshall is 100% good dog.

Marshall gets along well with dogs of all sizes and breeds. We haven't introduced him to any cats yet, nor have we taken him into our chicken yard -- those items are on our "to do" list but we have a lot of dogs who need the same kind of testing, so it's a long list.

Marshall was very shy when he first arrived in rescue, but his stay in boarding really made a difference. The staff spent time petting him and loving on him, took him on leash walks every day, and really helped him to come out of his shell. Now, living at Windsong Ranch, Marshall is very friendly. His first experience meeting visitors is coming up soon, so we'll try to update this page once we see how he reacts to new people.
